Our client, a prestigious independent school in the Berkshire area, are looking for an experience Deputy IT Manager to join their existing team. Working closely with the IT Manager, you will ensure the smooth running of IT systems, security of all IT hardware, oversee support to users via the helpdesk system, as well as providing 1st to 3rd line ICT support.

The postholder will be responsible for prioritising responses and resolutions within the service level agreement, providing support and advice to IT Technicians, developing and training members of staff, deputising for the IT Manager as required, as well as assisting with major project work.

The ideal candidate will be articulate and enthusiastic with exceptional technical knowledge, have proven IT Support skills up to 3rd line with a proactive approach to support, as well as experience in successfully running projects.

Main Duties :

  • Ensure that all school IT systems are fully operational within the SLA.
  • Maintenance and testing of back up systems and disaster recovery plans.
  • Upgrading systems out of normal business hours as required to ensure downtime is minimized.
  • Ensure running of all servers, infrastructure and end user devices.
  • Maintain the schools Anti Virus system.
  • Maintain all necessary records, documents in regards to network maps, inventories, details of licenses etc.

Knowledge / experience :

  • Exceptional technical knowledge of operating systems, in particular for managing and configuring authority for school-wide LANs, WANs, VPNs etc.
  • Hands on experience troubleshooting hardware (servers, routers, switches, hubs).
  • Office365 support, administration and implementation.
  • VMWare Support and administration.
  • Windows Server, Office365, SharePoint, System Center, Active Directory etc.
  • iOS/Android MDM integration.
  • Preferably worked within the Education Sector.
