Salary up to £41,000 dependent on experience

Our client, a very prestigious, beautiful Independent School based in Surrey, are currently looking for a qualified Finance Manager to be responsible for the management of the school’s financial systems, processes and staff. The successful candidate will lead on the provision of financial advice to the Heads of Department and Senior Management Team and will line manage 2 Finance Officers and a Finance Assistant.

Main Duties:

  • To manage the School’s computerised fees and deposits system which is administered by the Finance Officer (Fees) including the administration of Scholarships, Bursaries and Prizes. To manage the termly production of invoices, monthly direct debit collections and regular reconciliation processes.
  • To manage credit control, including following up with problematic fee arrears cases referred from the Finance Officer (Fees). Production of regular outstanding fee reports for the Bursar for inclusion in Board of Governors’ reports.
  • To check and authorise, where applicable, transactions administered by the Finance Officers associated with fee accounts; the School’s Imprest Account; Creditors and School Department accounts.
  • To manage the administration of the School’s Imprest Account and to ensure the secure handling and processing of cash, cheques, and procurement credit cards, including training all staff in these processes.
  • To liaise with the HR Manager regarding monitoring the total expenditure on staff costs regularly against budget and advise the Bursar of any anticipated variances.
  • Lead on the School’s preparations for financial and internal audits and prepare responses to Audit Reports.
  • To provide financial information and advice to the Headmaster and Bursar producing prompt, regular reports to approximately 50 budget holders.
  • To produce the draft annual Revenue Estimates (Budgets) for the School as directed by the Bursar.

Essential Skills:

  • Qualified Accountant AAT Level 4 or equivalent or qualified by experience
  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent
  • Experience of working in a Finance environment in local government and/or an educational establishment
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Experience of managing budgets
  • Line management experience
  • Proven ability in numeric reasoning
  • Computer literate, experience with MS Office and an Intermediate / Advanced understanding of Excel
  • Previous experience using Citrix or Oasis are highly desirable

Our client, a large independent day and boarding school in Hertfordshire, are looking for a Data Manager to provide technical support and advice to teaching and support staff on the management and development of the School’s MIS (iSAMS).

As the Data Manager, you will work closely with academic and support staff, plus the IT team, to ensure -information requests are dealt with as efficiently as possible.

A key aspect to this role is to champion the use of iSAMS within the school’s population, and provide training and guidance to staff (both on a one-to-one or group basis) on the use of the system.
In addition, the ability to analyse the current use of the MIS and suggest ways in which processes can be improved is highly desirable.
