Job Description

Working on behalf of an East London secondary school we are recruiting to an interim Premises Assistant contra ct that could lead to a permanent post for the right candidate.

Reporting into the Premises Manager you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks, admitting contractors onsite and directing them to jobs, assisting with cleaning buildings, ensuring grounds and premises are litter free, undertaking repairs and DIY projects and complying with Health and Safety policies.

You will be required to maintain the academies security following security procedures, checks and tests. Carry out routine and non-routine (emergency) opening and closing of the premises. Act as a keyholder and ensure premises are secure throughout opening times and opening and closing the site from time to time.

You will be required to assist in keeping mandatory records for fire testing, service and report health and safety etc, accept deliveries to the academy and deliver to the correct department, carry out regular checks with ancillary equipment and assist with setting up rooms for events/conferences and exams.

You will ensure all duties are undertaken in accordance with the schools health and safety policy including risk assessment and safety systems. Attend/participate in statutory training for health and safety and maintain records eg COSSH under the supervision of the Premises Manager. You will ensure the proper use and storage of tools and equipment and carry out PAT testing/inspection of power tools and report faults to the Premises Manager.

The Package

This is a full time contract that could lead to permanent employment for the right candidate – the salary is £17,680 to £18,720 dependent on experience.

Job Requirements

It is essential you hold experience of working within a site/premises role – basic IT skills are essential combined with strong written and verbal communication skills. You will need to be available to start work ASAP on an ongoing basis.
