Registrar – Wiltshire – Up to £31,500 – Perm – Sept Start

Registrar – Independent School (Wiltshire)
Salary £30,000 – £31,500 dependent on experience

Our client, a prestigious Independent School based within the beautiful countryside of Wiltshire, are currently looking for an experienced, highly organised and self-motivated Registrar to manage the pupil recruitment and admissions process for the school.

As this is a central and significant role in the school, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the admissions process, liasing with prospective parents and organising events for prospective pupils. The Registrar will report directly to the Director of Admissions, Marketing and Development and will be supported by two experienced Assistant Registrars.

As the Registrar your main duties will include:

  • Planning, implementing, monitoring and reviewing admissions policy and practice.
  • Overseeing, coordinating and extending the work of the department including:
    • ensuring that all enquiries from prospective parents are efficiently recorded
    • maintaining an accurate database of prospective pupils
  • Overseeing all major Admissions events in school (Taster Days, Entrance Days, Open Mornings, Entrance Examinations, Scholarships etc.) and developing new Admissions events.
  • Overseeing visits of the school by prospective parents and pupils and working with the Headmistress and Admissions Team to ensure that their experience is as positive and as personal as possible.
  • Ensuring that all appropriate information is sent out at the relevant stages of the Admissions process.
  • Communicating efficiently with all areas of the school including teaching and support staff as appropriate.
  • Maintaining contact with prospective parents and following up visits with personal approaches to ensure registration and retention.
  • Attending Prep School evenings, recruitment fairs and similar publicity events (on rotation with other members of the Admissions Team).
  • Promoting the school at all times and being aware of current practice throughout the school.

To be considered for this position you must have:

  • Excellent IT skills (Particularly word processing, database knowledge and sufficient numeracy to deal with statistical data).
  • A confident, warm and welcoming manner in person and on the telephone
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills
  • An eye for detail and excellent proof-reading skills
  • An excellent command of written English and the ability to communicate ideas and information in an imaginative and compelling way.
  • Familiarity with social media and other communications channels
  • Previous experience working in a school environment is highly desirable
