2nd line Engineer – 3 Month Contract

2nd Line IT Technician – 3 Month Contract

Sevenoaks, Kent | Immediate Start | Potential Temp-to-Perm

Are you an experienced 2nd Line IT Technician available to start immediately?

Do you have a current Enhanced DBS and want a hands-on role covering support, servers, networking and infrastructure?

We are looking for a 2nd Line IT Technician to join the in-house Technology team at West Heath School in Sevenoaks on an initial 3-month contract, with the possibility of becoming permanent.

This is a varied technical role where you’ll act as the primary escalation point for 1st line support, resolving more complex issues while helping maintain the School’s server, network and wider IT infrastructure.

What will you be doing?

  • Providing 2nd line support and resolving escalated technical issues
  • Troubleshooting hardware, software and connectivity problems
  • Managing and maintaining Windows Server and VMware
  • Supporting LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi and network infrastructure
  • Managing and testing backup systems
  • Supporting Microsoft 365
  • Building Windows 11 images and deploying software
  • Working with SCCM or equivalent deployment tools
  • Supporting firewall, filtering, patching and endpoint security
  • Assisting with IT projects and infrastructure upgrades
  • Supporting and mentoring the 1st Line IT Technician

The position offers a good mix of user support and hands-on infrastructure work, with responsibility across servers, virtualisation, networking, backups and systems deployment.

What are we looking for?

  • You’ll ideally have significant 1st/2nd line IT support experience, with hands-on knowledge of Windows Server, virtualisation and Microsoft 365.
  • You’ll be confident troubleshooting technical issues, supporting non-technical users and working independently within a busy environment.
  • Experience with VMware, SCCM/Intune, networking and school IT environments would be particularly useful.

Essential for this contract

Due to the immediate nature of the requirement, applicants must:

  • Be available to start immediately or at very short notice
  • Hold a current Enhanced DBS
  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Be able to work on-site in Sevenoaks

This is initially a 3-month temporary position, with the potential to become permanent.

If you’re immediately available and looking for a hands-on 2nd Line role with exposure to servers, networking and infrastructure, we’d like to hear from you.
